Why we need you

Members build momentum, they build support, engagement. Members bring energy. Their presence brings together like minded people who have a thread that binds them in some inexplicable way. For all the high-brow that can sometimes be associated with art, members seem to transcend that. They are comfortable in each other’s space to delight and enjoy, to marvel and ponder the stencil and street art before them.

We, the committee, want members because we are a selfish lot; we like the energy you bring to a room when you are all together, we like the smiles and looks of wonder. We like the noise, the conversations, the collaboration. Mostly, we like to see people creating, appreciating, discussing, enjoying …. stencil art

What you get

We cant offer you discounts to movies, concerts, clothing stores, holidays overseas or free tickets to anything … unless it was free to begin with. We cant offer you major prizes in a huge raffle or sausage sizzles outside the front of your house. In fact we can give you a thing because we have no things to give.

What we can offer is a feeling. That feeling that comes from knowing; a knowing that you are part of something that needs to be said but we which we ourselves are not capable of saying in the particular way that stencil art can say it. What you are part of by being a member of the Melbourne Stencil Festival Association is an organisation that actively seeks to promote stencil art in Melbourne and in doing so continue to encourage the commentary, the insight and the creativity the comes from this unique art form.
